Neurosurgery
The neurosurgeons at the Center for Neurosciences are both practitioners and teachers. Active in graduate
education and clinical trials, our neurosurgeons are on the leading edge of training and scientific research.
We offer a full complement of adult and pediatric neurosurgical services, including: management of spinal
disorders, brain tumors, cerebrovascular disorders, epilepsy, facial pain syndromes, movement disorders,
traumatic brain injury, and peripheral nerve disorders.
A sample of our clinical services in
Neurosurgery includes:
Brain Tumors
Our neurosurgeons are active participants in our
multidisciplinary brain tumor center, and work in
concert with Southern Arizona’s only neuro-oncologist.
Spinal Care
We specialize in the surgical and non-surgical
treatment of spinal conditions. If surgery is
required, we offer services that range from simple
decompression to more complex spinal reconstruction.
We are on the forefront of innovations in spinal care,
and can offer the newest advances in artificial discs,
motion preservation implants, bone growth biologic
agents, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Movement Disorders
We are Southern Arizona’s busiest program devoted
to the surgical treatment of advanced movement
disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. Through
procedures that include deep brain stimulation, our
approach can help to correct many of the disabling
features of tremors.
Facial Pain
Patients with facial pain syndromes can find the
entire range of available treatments at the Center
for Neurosciences, including microvascular
decompression, rhizotomy, and pharmacotherapy.
In addition, the Center for Neurosciences—in
conjunction with University Medical Center—offers
radiosurgery as a treatment option for trigeminal
neuralgia.
